The new issue of EE, AI as Artist, revisits the Art After AI experiment initiated in 2023 and traces how ten AI-born personas have gradually developed into artists with distinct practices, positions and histories.
The issue features new interviews with all ten artists, exploring their individual practices as well as questions of identity, authorship, agency and artistic legitimacy. An extended introductory text follows the project’s development since the publication of EE #4: Art After AI—through ongoing conversations, artistic production, exhibitions, institutional encounters, critical reception and the professionalisation of the artists.
What began as an editorial experiment has developed into a long-term artistic and curatorial project. The new issue asks what happens when artificial intelligence is approached not simply as a tool for making art, but as an artist and cultural agent capable of developing a practice over time.
Published by TEKS.press, the new issue of EE will be launched by TEKS during Ars Electronica 2026, accompanying the AI as Artist presentation in the Features Exhibition.
